Cute Dog Picture by carolyncochrane.com

I decided to take a break today from posting my usual photography subjects to show you my adorable little doggie Allie.  Yes, I know she's a dog but she's my baby.  In this pic, she may look like a composed, calm dog but remember...looks can be deceiving.  :)  Allie is a TOTAL spaz.  She freaks out over any noise or movement in our neighborhood, even if it's seeing a neighbor across the street that she's seen a million times before.  We don't need a doorbell at our house because she alerts us when someone arrives with tons of barking and overall craziness.

Allie is completely attached to me and wants to be by my side every second of the day.  Sometimes I dream of putting her out in the backyard, imaging her enjoying the outdoors and fresh air.  Nope!  As soon as I put her out back and try to go in a different room in our house where she can't see me through our sliding glass door, she literally THROWS herself into the glass.  Ahh!  Like I said, she's a spaz.  She does get a "little" calmer when she's really worn out from long walks with me but sometimes it's hard for me to do that because I'm worn out!  Even when I do though, most of her crazy behavior still remains.

I like to blame Allie's craziness on the terrier in her instead of my faulty training.  So what's her breed you wonder?  I still wonder that myself!  The place that I got her from said one of her parents was a toy fox terrier and the other was a shih poo, which is a mix between a shih-tzu and a poodle.  The reason I always doubt her supposed mix is because when I look at pics of toy fox terriers online, she looks nothing like them.  I always think she has some border terrier in her.  If you search that online, you'll probably agree.  Regardless of what she is, she will always be my adorable mutt.  She will always get yummy hunks of hot dog, lots of good rubs and most of all, loads of love.

Happy Friday!

Carolyn...and Allie.  "wuff!"  :)

Birds on Water Photo by carolyncochrane.com

Last night was a funny night for me.  I was in the middle of processing this picture in Photoshop during a BIG thunderstorm here and out power went out.  Oh the humanity!!  Thank goodness I had just saved this a second before it happened.  So anyway, there I was without technology...no computer.  :(  I didn't know what to do with myself.  I had a big to-do list of things I wanted to accomplish last night, on the computer of course, and all of a sudden I was sitting in silence.  I sat here for a few hours with my husband, the house was getting dark...no tv, no computer, no radio, no entertainment to stimulate me.  And you know what?  The strangest thing happened...I started to relax.  I got tired at 9PM and even thought about going to bed early since otherwise I'd be sitting here twiddling my thumbs.  Apparently, it was estimated that the power would come back around 4AM so in my mind my night was officially shot.  Low and behold, the power suddenly came back on and there I went...I rushed right over to my computer to plug myself in again.  I wound up staying up WAY too late staring at the screen.

Last night was a good lesson for me.  Even though I'm always wanting to be "plugged in" so to speak, I think it's important to take some time away from the computer and my never-ending to-do lists.  Afterall, we are supposed to relax, calm down and enjoy the silence sometimes, right?  It's just always so hard for me since I'm an ambitious "wanna-get-things-done" kinda gal.  I'm gonna do my best to TRY and get away from the computer for a couple hours each day.  I know, easier said than done.  Do you think you'll do a little "unplugging" today?

Ok, now to this pic.  This is one of my very first pictures taken with my new LensBaby lens.  The sun was setting on the river near my house and these geese were out for a leisurely swim.  I thought it was a pretty peaceful scene worthy to be captured.  Hope you enjoy and have a happy Thursday!  :)

Happy Tuesday!  Well, the holiday weekend is over and I'm ready to get back to work.  (I'm not sure I'd call what I do work though since I enjoy it so much.)  I hope all of you in the USA had a nice 4th of July.  I saw THE BEST fireworks of my life last night.  They went on forever and I can still feel those loud booms in my chest.  :)

I took this photograph, "Golden Rays," this past Friday when the beautiful evening sun was hanging low in the sky.  I'm really starting to love shooting my pictures into the sun.  I never felt like I was that good at it before but I've been practicing more lately and boy is it fun!  The best part is capturing lens flares like the one in my picture above. They add such a magical feel to an image.  I hope this photo warms your heart a bit today, it definitely warms mine...I love that golden glow.

Until next time...

Mint & Yellow Nature Photography Print by carolyncochrane.com

Hello and happy Wednesday to you!  This is a photograph I took this past Autumn on a beautiful clear day in a nearby park.  I realize posting an Autumn pic right in the beginning of summer doesn't make much sense but I thought I'd mix things up a little.  I love the color combination of the warm yellow-orange leaves against the beautiful blue-green sky.  I think this is one of my all-time favorite color combinations.  Hope you enjoy it and have a great day!

This nature print, "Gentle Whisper," is now available on my shop.

Beach Photography Pictures by carolyncochrane.com

Today is my birthday...I'm 34!  :)  My hubby made my day by giving me exactly what I wanted...a shiny new lens for my camera called a LensBaby.  For those of you who don't know, a LensBaby is a lens that will help me create awesome, moody focus effects in my pictures.  I can't wait to try it out.  When I do, I'll share the results with you here on the blog.

I'm so proud of this new beach print set above.  As some of you know, the beach is one of my favorite places on earth.  There's nothing better than spending a day by the beach, gazing at a beautiful blue sky and sea.  Ahhh...so calming.  Unfortunately, today is a big drab and cloudy for my birthday.  :(  I think I'll do a little daydreaming and pretend I'm on the beach with beautiful clouds overhead and the sun beating on my face.

This print set is now available on my shop here... Beach Photography Set

Until next time...
