I was shopping in Target a couple weeks ago, the kind-of shopping that's pretty mundane and boring to me... shampoo, paper towels, dog bones, nothing fun. To make my trip more bearable I wandered over to the Home Decor section to see if they had anything new.
As I was thumbing through the wall canvases, I thought I saw something familiar... a bird on wire canvas looked eerily similar to one of my own bird-on-wire images. I picked it up and thought, "hey...my canvas has sparkly lights in the sky too." And then... "Wait a minute, I think my image has a few birds at the bottom with a lot of birds at the top. Are you serious?!?... this is MY IMAGE!!!!"
I couldn't believe what I was seeing...my own image, "Music Notes" as a canvas for sale in Target! I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear! It was at that moment I remembered sending this image to my art publisher about a year and a half ago. My publisher told me back then that Target had some interest in it. It was so long ago though and I never heard anything more that I totally forgot about it.
What a TOTAL shock and absolutely THRILLING surprise!! I'm shopping for toilet paper one minute and spotting my own canvas in my local Target the next!! I immediately called my hubby and made him drive over to Target so he could take my picture with it. Of course irony won that day... when I left the house for my errands I said to him, "Boy, I hope I don't run into anyone I know, my hair looks bad and grey and I'm just throwing it back in an ugly pony tail." Ha! Little did I know I'd be getting my picture taken and would want to post this on the internet for all to see! Oh well. I'm too proud of this cool accomplishment to keep it to myself. :)
You might spot this canvas in your local Target too. If you do, let me know, I'd love to hear where it's spotted around the country!

Another "pinch me" moment has arrived in my career. Two of my images are now on greeting cards that are being sold nationwide! On a stroke of luck the greeting card company, Marian Heath, found me on Etsy and requested the two images above for cards. The card on the left was used for a line of Breast Cancer Awareness cards and the card on the right is now out as a Thanksgiving card. How exciting! I haven't taken the time to run to different stores trying to find them but I need to. If you come across them, let me know!

I've been keeping a secret for months and can finally reveal it. My shell photograph, "Bliss," is now in EVERY Target store in the country for the next few months. How cool is that!?! Yippee!!!! :)
I was contacted back in the winter by a design firm that finds new images for Target stores. They asked if they could use this photograph. I asked what they'd be using it for and almost fell off my couch when I read their reply..."It will be used in Target stores." What?!?!? It took less than a second for me to say YES!
That is of course me in this picture. My sister and I took my camera to Target to check it out, it was so fun. We felt a little funny taking pictures by this rack of clothes where my photo lives as curious shoppers were looking at us wondering, "what in the world are they doing?" but we had a ball and laughed a lot.
If you want to check out my photograph when you're in Target for your usual errands, it's on a women's clothing rack, on the isle as you get closer to the fitting rooms. I didn't realize they were going to edit my photo. They made it look a lot duller and a much more muted pink color to match a few other photos on racks next to it. Whatever they wanted to do is fine with me though. I got paid a pretty penny for it and how cool is it to say, "My photo is in Target!" :)

I am beyond thrilled to show you this....the bubble image on the cover of this new book is mine! Isn't that cool? The publisher is "Paraclete Press," a christian book company. They found my bubble photograph on my Flickr stream and thought it would be perfect for the "Fresh Air" title of their new book. When the book was published, they sent me two copies. It's the neatest thing to hold a book in my hands with my own image on the cover. The book is also available on Amazon.com here which makes me a little giddy...ha. :)
The bubble picture on the cover is available on my shop here: "Fresh Air"
