Since part of my focus with photography is the beach, I'm starting to collect more seashells...unfortunately not by beachcombing though. I'm collecting my shells the lazy way....Etsy! There are some really neat Etsy shops that have beautiful seashells. I just bought a few shells including the one in this new photograph above. This one is a Marbled Cone shell. The striking pattern really caught my eye, I figured the contrast of the white and dark brown would look awesome in a photo.
I'm definitely first and foremost a lover of color when it comes to editing my photos but I am enjoying this past week experimenting with these deep dark brown tones. I LOVE the modern look it lends to images.
I'm off to take more pictures of my shells, I bought a beautiful large sea urchin from Etsy that I'm working on now. Fun, fun.

I'm not a big squirrel fan but isn't this cute? I rented a really big lens about a month ago to try out on a vacation. (It was a Nikon 70-200mm lens for those of you who are curious.) It allowed me to get much closer to subjects but still take my shots from further back. As soon as the lens arrived, I took it to the park by my house and saw this little guy eating something. I love the way I captured his little paws up by his mouth. :) I actually took this shot from my car. I'm dying to buy this lens but the price tag is REALLY steep. I'm hoping one day I can swing it.

I'm so happy with this new image. I took it on my recent trip to Maine while we were out on a whale watching boat tour, as I mentioned in pervious blog posts. We made it out 35 miles offshore. It was the most beautiful day on the ocean I had ever seen, I'll never forget it. The clouds were gorgeous, the sea was calm and I was in heaven! Eversince the trip when I have some moments of stress, I just picture seeing this scene in person and it calms me down a bit. I love when I see such beautiful scenes in nature that really have a soothing impact on me deep within...it's something I can always go back to later in my mind. :) What "scenes" have you seen in nature that have impacted you like this??
I edited this photograph in Photoshop to try and make it look darker than it was that day. I love the deep dark blue color that I was able to bring out.
Happy Monday to you all, more images to come!

Here's a new photograph of a Maine lighthouse from my recent trip to New England. I cannot identify this lighthouse and am hoping you can help me. Do you know the name of it? I snapped this photo on a boat tour but can't remember the name the tour-guide mentioned. I've looked everywhere online and have found a lot of pictures of Maine lighthouses but can't find this one. Hoping someone can help!
Thanks, Carolyn :)
UPDATE: I discovered this lighthouse is Winter Harbor! This image, "Winter Harbor" is available on my shop as a print or canvas.
Here's a brand new ocean picture from my recent trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. I took this photo while we were 35 miles offshore on our whale watching boat tour. The ocean was calm, the sky was beautiful and I was in heaven...what a photo opp! Hope this brings a little moment of calm to your day.
