I'm back from my Maine vacation. We had such a good time, I took around 3000 pictures in 3 days...whew, was that fun! As I mentioned in my last blog post, my husband and I took a whale watching boat tour on our trip. It was SO fun. We went 35 miles out from the coast on the ocean. It was the farthest I've ever been out on the ocean...talk about beautiful! We had the BEST weather day imaginable, blue skies with gorgeous white clouds and a beautiful calm blue ocean.
My hope was to get a picture of a whale tail but unfortunately that didn't happen. We did see several whales though which was SO thrilling. The shots above are the best pics I got on the tour. I'm a little bummed that I didn't get this whales face but he swam up so fast and back down again, you have to be REALLY fast with your camera. This guy is a Minke whale, apparently he's a smaller species.
It was so fun sitting out on the ocean waiting to spot whales. The tour guide told us to watch for the water to get lighter which would indicate the whale coming to the surface. That's exactly what happened. Thankfully we were on the right side of the boat at the right time. As soon as he came up to the surface, I snapped a ton of pics. It was so exhilarating.
If you've never done a whale watching boat tour before, I highly recommend it...at least in Bar Harbor, Maine where we were vacationing. It was so fun and relaxing to be out on the ocean. (as long as you have nice weather.) It's the neatest feeling to get away from land for a while and marvel in the beautiful blue ocean and it's fascinating creatures. We saw seals too!
I have a lot of new trip pictures to show you here on my blog which I'll be posting over the next few weeks. I'm having so much fun right now editing them, it's a great way to relive our trip and the enjoy the beautiful scenery we enjoyed.
Carolyn :)
